Weekend with Daddy

Been a full/quick weekend...my welder threw his back out
couldn't walk, had to go see a chiropractor for some help.

So the kids and I loaded up the car and drove out to meet
him, camper life again...did I miss you?...sorry to say NO!
So it's been the usual; clean the camper, wash loads of
laundry, buy groceries, etc. Oh don't get me wrong, my
welder is NOT nasty, just his meaning of clean is just
different from mine. LOL

#1, The sheets are clean (been on for weeks) I take a bath
before climbing into bed....
#2, His towel is clean, (been hanging for days) I just dry
off and hang back up to dry...
#3, Well, sorry about the sink FULL of dishes, I was just
too tired last night to wash.....I came just in time huh?
#4, I pile my receipts, ear plugs and change in one spot....
sorry I have OCD I so can't take that!
#5, No need to fold clothes, I'm just going to wear them
again this week....

We were able to take the kiddos to the Audubon Aquarium
of the Americas in New Orleans, it was a blast, even though
we had to take it slow for my welder over his hurting back.

The Sea Horses are one of our favorite
exhibits of the aquarium, such neat
lil" creatures God has made.

The boys and their "catch"

It was a very rainy day but we managed to
go look at the Mississippi River and
watch the steamboats pass by.

LOVE how the streets look down by the
French Quarter, the lovely garden
balconies are just too awesome.

And we found a coffee house and my welder
bought me some beignets....oh so yummy!

Reorganizing My Life, Part 4

"Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any propane?
Our camper is COLD, can you feel our pain?"
Reading "Baa, baa, black sheep"

I had just finished my first cup of coffee when the camper heater came on
and then before warming up the camper kicked right back off...
after a year and a half of living in this camper I've learned all the tricks,
that meant we were OUT of propane, a huge *sigh* it was still early the
sun wasn't even out, I sure didn't want to go out in the cold and dark to
start switching bottles over now...good thing we have a little floor heater.
The kiddos were up now because it don't take long for the camper to
get cold, so I bundled them up, gave them a book and I headed out to
get the bottles switched.
So this starts with my organizing rules...

#10; You must get a "big bottle", the two little ones that come with the
camper on cold days will only last you a few days each...maybe a week!
The big one will last a good 3 weeks, so with all three you can last almost
a month. ;-)
((Another reason I love to use my crock-pot to cook, saves on propane))

#11; Get the RIGHT tool for the job, last time I tried to switch the bottles
it took me half an hour to loosen the hose...didn't have a right size tool for
the job...SO, my welder went and got me a "wrench" that works wonders,
got to have this for sure.

#12; Have extra fuses on hand, that sorry heater likes to mess up a fuse
EVERY time we run out of propane, so I have to have this handy "fuse puller"
to reset the heater before it will come back on, crazy I know but it's true!

Reorganizing My Life, Part 3

Last year I started making a list of things we do different in a camper as to
a house, (in label "Camper Rules") so my life changed some when we moved
in our camper with four children...today I plan to give you three MORE
rules. :-D

#7. Never put a hole in your wall just ANYWHERE...the walls are thin.
I use those awesome "Command Band" that stick on, hold well and come
off easy when ready to move. This saves my camper without ugly holes.
They come in different colours now, so I've been hanging them in kiddos
room to organize their room a little better.

#8. Never can have TOO many totes...these things are wonderful.
From keeping the kiddos toys in place, to keeping school work organized,
they help me out so much...and now that I've found the ones that snap in
place, my life has been simpler.

#9. You can't beat the heat with one AC...go buy a window unit!!!
This summer was in the triple digits and our camper AC just couldn't keep it
cool in here, so we got a window unit and stuck it in a window. Awww,
now that helped cool things off in here. ;-D

Reorganizing My Life Part2

#4 Rade the piggy banks for quarters...washing clothes gets
pretty pricy!
If your camper doesn't have a washer & dryer, than your
going to need a lot of quarters. In one month I can wash up to
18 loads of laundry, thats been around $90 a month!!!

#5 Learn how to dump the *black holding tank*...in this
heat will stink the whole camper up!
I learned the hard way, if your hubby forgot to dump the tank
you better know how yourself. After watching him a time or
two, I think I did a pretty good jod for my FIRST time.

#6 Find slow-cooker recipes...it won't heat up your camper!
When it's over 100* outside and your AC is going full blast
and your trying to cook on a stove that is only heating up the
camper...throughing everything in a slow-cooker that morning
is WAY easier and less stressful on my family.
Scotch Fastners are awesome
for hanging things up, even our lil' girl
enjoys the new things hanging!

Reorganizing My Life Part1

There was a time I would reorganize to clean...now it just means to
make things FIT! I reorganized about 5 times before we moved into
the camper full time, and in the past 11 weeks have reorganized
another 5 times just to make better room for it all.

I've been thinking of some of the things I'm learning about
full-time-camping...

#1 Take only food and clothes...leave the rest!
Boy this is hard to do, and with school just 3 weeks away, I have
ordered the books and making room for it all is HARD! Time to
reorganize again in here.

#2 Don't try to blow dry your hair when the AC and TV is
going...you'll blow a braker!
It never fails, if you have too much going in the camper you will blow
a braker, so you learn to turn things off or just go without it, I go to
bed with wet hair now.

#3 Remember the ice-box is small...so buy smaller portions!
When you have about fourth of milk left in the gallon, you can't just
buy another one and make it fit in the ice-box...no, you only have
enough room for ONE. And so shopping comes more often living
in the camper because you can't buy in bulk to make it last.
Love my handy shark, even my 4 yr.old can help!
